The Key is Honored as a Top Agency Workplace

Oct 15, 2024

This month, seven years ago, The Key had a launch party to announce itself to the world -- a little more than a year after Martha Shaughnessy and Katherine Madariaga signed their first (and still) client Shopkick.

Hard to believe how much our industry - and the world (!) - has changed since 2017, but here we are - with so many lessons learned and deep gratitude for the clients, journalists, and teammates who’ve helped make our dream and mission a reality. We set out to tell a new story - and that includes how we build our teams and nurture our teammates. So it’s an incredible honor - and awesome timing - that this month, we were recognized by PR Daily as a Top Agency Workplace.

When we first started building The Key, we knew that we wanted to go above and beyond in the people department. That meant providing top-notch benefits, work/life flexibility (even before the pandemic changed everything), and clear growth planning for our teammates. From the beginning, we worked hard to ensure an inclusive, strengths-based approach to team-building, intentional account staffing, and business practices aligned with our Key Agreements. This acknowledgment makes us so proud!

Special thanks to La'Kita Williams and Chloe Andersen of CoCreate Work and Becky Jones for guiding our culture and HR practices.

The Key joins a list of agencies that put employees first and create a work culture that values career growth, employee engagement and wellbeing without sacrificing high performance.
