Meet Roberto, The Key's New Apprentice

Mar 14, 2025

Tell us a little bit about your background before joining The Key team.

Before joining The Key, I built a mix of experience in research and design. I worked as a Research Assistant, where I conducted literature reviews and interpreted data, which helped me develop a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving. I was also a Graphic Design Intern for my university’s journalism program, where I created a website and brand materials to help students navigate the program. Outside of that, I worked at Boba Guys as a Shift Lead, where I learned how to manage a fast-paced environment, collaborate with a team, and fine-tune my communication skills. These experiences shaped my ability to think strategically, create meaningful content, and work efficiently in different settings.

Describe your work style in five words.

Curious – I love learning and finding new ways to level-up my skills.

Empathetic – I like understanding where people are coming from and using that to guide my work.

Resourceful – Google, creativity, and a little problem-solving magic goes a long way.

Detail-oriented – I'm all about the details that take things to the next level.

Observant – I notice things others might miss, which comes in handy for catching details and reading the room.

What are your favorite kinds of projects to tackle?

I love to participate in visually-driven projects and look forward to potentially working on arranging media gifts and promotional materials for events and product launches.

What’s your proudest moment at work (here or elsewhere)?

I felt super proud when I led the branding and design for the Journalism Track at UCSB's Professional Writing Program. It was awesome to see my work actually being used as a resource for students!

What makes you the most excited to be at The Key?

I’m excited to be part of a team that values creativity and strategy as much as I do. The opportunity to collaborate, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects really motivates me.

Lightning Round:

Favorite office snack?

Any chocolate protein bar to keep me going throughout the day.

Badass role model?

I don’t look up to just one person. I admire anyone who leads with kindness, stays true to themselves, and meaningfully challenges the status quo. I really respect confidence, compassion, and empathy in a role model.

Power song?

Anything Charli XCX

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The Limitless Effect– Instantly learning anything, making 100% spot-on decisions, never forgetting a thing, and basically, turning my brain into a supercomputer.

Work with the Best

A lot of complexity comes from an unwillingness to commit to the things that insight and understanding surface.
